How Much Does Botox Cost in 2026?
Botox is priced per unit. The per-unit rate varies by location and clinic:
| Market | Typical Per-Unit Rate | 50-Unit Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Smaller cities & suburbs | $10–$13/unit | $500–$650 |
| Mid-size metros | $13–$16/unit | $650–$800 |
| Major metros (NYC, LA, Miami) | $15–$20/unit | $750–$1,000 |
| Premium / high-demand clinics | $20–$25/unit | $1,000–$1,250 |
Your total cost depends on two things: the per-unit rate and how many units you need. A forehead-only treatment might be 15–20 units ($225–$300 at $15/unit), while a full upper face is 40–60 units ($600–$900 at $15/unit).

How Many Units of Botox Do I Need?
The number of units depends on the treatment area, your muscle strength, and your goals. Here are typical ranges:
Upper Face
| Area | Range | Common Dose |
|---|---|---|
| Forehead lines | 10–30 units | 15–20 |
| Frown lines (11s) | 15–25 units | 20 |
| Crow's feet (both sides) | 10–24 units | 20–24 |
| Brow lift | 4–10 units | 6 |
| Bunny lines | 4–10 units | 6–8 |
Lower Face & Neck
| Area | Range | Common Dose |
|---|---|---|
| Lip flip | 4–8 units | 4–6 |
| Gummy smile | 2–6 units | 4 |
| DAO / downturned mouth | 4–8 units | 6 |
| Chin (dimpled chin) | 4–8 units | 6 |
| Perioral lines | 4–8 units | 4–6 |
| Neck bands | 20–60 units | 25–50 |
Body & Specialty
| Area | Range | Common Dose |
|---|---|---|
| Masseter / jawline (both sides) | 30–100 units | 40–60 |
| Trapezius / Barbie Botox (both) | 40–100 units | 50–80 |
| Underarm sweating (both sides) | 50–100 units | 100 |
Women typically need fewer units than men for the same area due to differences in muscle mass. First-timers and preventative Botox patients usually start on the lower end.
Per-Unit vs. Per-Area: Which Is Cheaper?
The break-even formula: per-area price ÷ per-unit rate = break-even units.
If you need fewer units than the break-even, per-unit is cheaper. If you need more, per-area saves money. For a detailed breakdown with real clinic pricing, see our per-unit vs. per-area guide.
Converting Between Botox, Dysport, and Other Brands
All six FDA-approved neuromodulators work similarly but use different unit scales:
| Brand | Conversion to Botox | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) | 1:1 (baseline) | 3–4 months |
| Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) | 2.5–3:1 | 3–4 months |
| Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) | 1:1 | 3–4 months |
| Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA) | 1:1 | 3–4 months |
| Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA) | 2:1 | 6–9 months |
| Letybo (letibotulinumtoxinA) | 1:1 | 3–4 months |
The Dysport ratio of 2.5–3:1 means 50 Botox units ≈ 125–150 Dysport units. The Daxxify ratio of 2:1 means 50 Botox units ≈ 100 Daxxify units. The 2:1 ratio is established by FDA glabellar dosing (20 Botox = 40 Daxxify) and widely applied across all treatment areas in practice. These ratios matter for pricing — see our Dysport pricing trap analysis for why a low per-unit price isn't always a good deal.
Units are not officially interchangeable between brands. Each product has its own FDA-approved dosing. Your injector determines the appropriate dose based on the specific product being used.
The "Botox-Equivalent Units" Pricing Trap
This is one of the most common sources of pricing confusion in aesthetics, and almost nobody talks about it.
Some clinics quote Dysport prices in actual Dysport units (e.g., "$5/unit for 108 units = $540"). Other clinics quote Dysport in Botox-equivalent units (e.g., "$15/unit for 36 units = $540"). Same treatment, same dose, same total price — completely different per-unit numbers.
This means a clinic advertising "$7/unit Dysport" might sound like a great deal, but if that's in actual Dysport units, you're paying the equivalent of ~$19/unit in Botox terms — which is expensive. Meanwhile, "$15/unit Dysport" at another clinic might sound pricey, but if they're quoting in Botox-equivalent units, you're getting the standard rate.
The question to always ask: "Is that priced in Dysport units or Botox-equivalent units?"
This is exactly why comparing raw per-unit prices across brands without understanding the unit system is misleading — and why tools like this calculator exist.
What This Calculator Doesn't Cover
This tool gives you a budget estimate. It doesn't account for consultation fees (some clinics charge $50–$200, often credited toward treatment), touch-up policies, membership pricing, package discounts, or loyalty rewards like Allē points. Your actual units will be determined by your injector after examining your facial anatomy.
